Qualification Overview 

The VTCT Entry Level Award in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry (Entry 3) is to support you to develop your skills and knowledge so you can progress to preparing for work qualifications.

This qualification is suitable for learners from 14 years old and will develop your knowledge and understanding of the main outlets in the hospitality industry and the career opportunities available.

The qualification has 2 mandatory units that will develop your knowledge and understanding of the hospitality and catering industry, how to communicate with customers and the importance of good personal presentation. The optional units that make up this qualification will allow you to tailor your learning to your personal interests and preferences.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this qualification. Your centre will have ensured that you have the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enrol and successfully achieve this qualification.

  • Customer service in the hospitality industry

  • Introduction to the hospitality industry

Optional Units

  • Basic food preparation

  • Basic cooking

  • Serving food and drink

Progression

Achievement of this qualifications confirms the learner has gained the knowledge and skills required to:

  • Progress into further learning at a higher level

  • Diploma Level 2 & 3

  • NVQ Level 2 and 3

  • Alternatively, you may wish to seek employment as:

• Kitchen assistant or team member

• Kitchen support staff
