The national minimum wage for an apprentice is £3.50 per hour for 16 to 18 year olds (and over 19s during the first year). However, we encourage our employers to pay more than this.
You get paid for a full weeks’ work, which includes any day release for training if applicable, plus a minimum of 20 days’ holiday pay.
No formal qualifications are required to become an apprentice, all you need is the enthusiasm and work ethic to succeed.
As part of your apprenticeship you will be required to attend College for one day per week and four days on site with the employer. An assessor will regularly visit and monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship.
Much of your training will be practical although part of it is knowledge and theory based.
